Taylor County, Florida is a county located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 19256. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 21546, making it the 14th least populous county in Florida. The county has a total area of 1232.01 mi˛ (3190.89 square kilometre), of which, 1041.91 square miles (2698.53 square kilometre) of it is land and 190.1 square miles (492.36 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 14th largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 19256 people, 7176 households, and 5129 families living in the county. The population density was 18.5 people per square mile (7.14/km˛), making its Florida's fourth least densely populated county. There were 9646 housing units at an average density of 9.3 per square mile (3.59/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.51 persons, and the average family size was 2.95 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 24.6% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 104.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.8 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 21546, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 16033 White, 4891 Black or African American, 209 American Indian, 100 Asian, 8 Native Hawaiian, and 305 from two or more races.
