Tavares City is one of the city of Lake County, Florida, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The city has a population of 9700 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 13746, making it Florida's 274th largest. The city spans an area of 7.44 mi˛ (19.27 sq km), of which, 7.09 square miles (18.36 sq km) of it is land and 0.36 square miles (0.93 sq km) of it is water, it is the 241st largest by area in the U.S. state of Florida.
