Taunton City is a city in the Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States. The city has a population of 55976 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 55702, It is the 19th most populous in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. The city extends throughout a territory of 47.96 mi˛ (124.22 sq km ), of which, 46.61 square miles (120.72 sq km) of it is land and 1.35 square miles (3.5 sq km) of it is water, it is the third largest by area in the U.S. state of Massachusetts.
