The parish has a total area of 823.12 square miles (2131.87 kmē), of which, 790.24 square miles (2046.71 kmē) of it is land and 32.88 square miles (85.16 kmē) of it is water, it is the 23rd largest by area in the U.S. state of Louisiana.
