Tanana City is one of the city of Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, Alaska, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. In 2000, city's population was 308 inhabitants. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 268, giving it the 152nd largest population among Alaska. It is spread over 15.58 mi˛ (40.35 sq km), of which, 11.56 square miles (29.94 sq km ) of it is land and 4.02 square miles (10.41 sq km) of it is water, making it the 208th largest by size in Alaska.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 308 people, 121 households, and 69 families residing in the city. The population density was 26.6 people per square mile (10.27/km˛), it is 134th most densely populated city in Alaska. There were 166 housing units at an average density of 14.4 per square mile (5.56/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.55 persons, and the average family size was 3.43 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 34.7% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 8.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 131.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 128.4 males. The median age is 34.2 years, The median age of males was 31.4 years, for females the median age was 36.8 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 55 White, Black or African American, 246 American Indian, Asian, Native Hawaiian, 7 from two or more races and Ohter races.
