Sweet Home City is a city located in Linn County, Oregon, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. The city has a population of 8016 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 8930, It is the 59th most populous in the U.S. state of Oregon. Its area is just over 5.76 mi˛ (14.92 sq km), of which, 5.33 square miles (13.8 sq km) of it is land and 0.44 square miles (1.14 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 47th largest by total area in Oregon. It is ranks 20 in the size of its inland waterways in Oregon.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8016 residents, 16 households, and 12 families in the city. The population density was 1504.4 people per square mile (580.85/km˛), it is the 143rd most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Oregon. For every 100 females there were 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.7 males. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 7506 White, 20 Black or African American, 133 American Indian, 49 Asian, 12 Native Hawaiian, 216 from two or more races and 80 Ohter races.
