Surfside Beach Town is one of the town of Horry County, South Carolina, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 4425. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the town is 4783, It is 93rd most populous in South Carolina. The town encompasses an area of 1.96 sq mi (5.08 sq km ), of which, 1.93 square miles (5 sq km) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, it is the 236th largest by area in the U.S. state of South Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4425 people in the town, organized into 2150 households, and 1235 families residing in the town. The population density was 2287.6 people per square mile (883.25/kmē), making it the 12th most densely populated town in South Carolina. There were 3698 housing units at an average density of 1916.1 per square mile (739.81/kmē). The average household size was 2.06 persons, and the average family size was 2.55 persons. In the town Population was distributed with 13.6% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 29.7% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.5 males.
