Sullivan County is a one of the county from Tennessee's 95 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 153048 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 153900, It is the ninth largest in terms of population. It is spread over 429.69 square miles (1112.89 kmē), of which, 413.02 square miles (1069.72 kmē ) of it is land and 16.67 square miles (43.18 kmē) of it is water, making it Tennessee's 56th largest county by total area.

The population density was 370.6 people per square mile (143.09/kmē), it is Tennessee's fifth most densely populated county. In the county Age distribution was 21.8% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 107.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 110.9 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 153900, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.14% White, 2.26% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 0.55% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.78% from two or more races.
