Stutsman County is a county located in North Dakota, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Stutsman County is home to 21908 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 20394, It is the seventh largest in terms of population. The county encompasses an area of 2298.26 mi˛ (5952.47 sq km ), of which, 2221.4 square miles (5753.4 sq km) of it is land and 76.86 square miles (199.07 sq km) of it is water, it is the third largest by area in the U.S. state of North Dakota. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in North Dakota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 21908 people in the county, organized into 8954 households, and 5648 families residing in the county. The population density was 9.9 people per square mile (3.82/km˛), making it the tenth most densely populated county in North Dakota. There were 9817 housing units at an average density of 4.4 per square mile (1.7/km˛). The average household size was 2.28 persons, and the average family size was 2.89 persons. In the county Population was distributed with 22.8% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.2 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 20394, The racial makeup of the county was 19703 White, 109 Black or African American, 314 American Indian, 110 Asian, 9 Native Hawaiian, and 149 from two or more races.
