Stoughton City is a United States city located in the Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 12354 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 12966, It is Wisconsin's 59th largest by population . The city spans an area of 4.11 sq mi (10.64 sq km), of which, 3.96 square miles (10.26 sq km) of it is land and 0.14 square miles (0.36 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 159th largest by total area in Wisconsin.
