Storey County is a county in the United States of Nevada. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 3399 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 4341, It is the third smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Nevada. The county spans an area of 263.8 mi˛ (683.24 square kilometre), of which, 263.45 square miles (682.33 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.34 square miles (0.88 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the second smallest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3399 people in the county, organized into 1462 households, and 969 families living in the county. The population density was 12.9 people per square mile (4.98/km˛), giving it the sixth most densely populated county among the Nevada. There were 1596 housing units at an average density of 6.1 per square mile (2.36/km˛). The average household size was 2.32 people, and the average family size was 2.74 people. In the Storey County, 19.7% of the population was under the age of 18, 4.7% were 18 to 24, 26.8% were 25 to 44, 35.7% were 45 to 64, and 13.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 107.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.1 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 4341, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 91.13% White, 1.47% Black or African American, 1.52% American Indian, 2.28% Asian, 0.12% Native Hawaiian, and 3.48% from two or more races.
