Stone County, Mississippi is a county located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The population of the county was 13622 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 16025, making it Mississippi's 27th smallest county. The county spans an area of 448.07 sq mi (1160.5 square kilometre), of which, 445.37 square miles (1153.5 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.71 square miles (7.02 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 20th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Mississippi.
