Stone County, Arkansas is a county located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. Stone County had an official population of 11499 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 12090, It is 19th least populous county in Arkansas. The county comprises an area of 609.43 sq mi (1578.42 square kilometre), of which, 606.59 square miles (1571.06 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.84 square miles (7.36 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 19th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Arkansas.

The population density was 19 people per square mile (7.34/kmē), it would be the 17th least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Arkansas. There were 5715 housing units at an average density of 9.4 per square mile (3.63/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.82. In the county the population was spread out, with 22.2% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 23.6% from 25 to 44, 28.5% from 45 to 64, and 18.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.3 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 12090, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 11712 White, 72 Black or African American, 97 American Indian, 15 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, and 190 from two or more races.
