Stillwater County, Montana is a county of the United States of Montana. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 8195 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 8687, It is the 25th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Montana. The county has a total area of 1804.61 square miles (4673.92 square kilometre), of which, 1795.09 square miles (4649.26 square kilometre) of it is land and 9.52 square miles (24.66 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 38th largest by size in Montana.

The population density was 4.6 people per square mile (1.78/kmē), it is the 16th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Montana. There were 3947 housing units at an average density of 2.2 per square mile (0.85/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.48 persons, and the average family size was 2.94 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.3% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 27.6% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 104 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.8 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 8687, The racial makeup of the county was 97.1% White, 0.25% Black or African American, 1.07% American Indian, 0.26% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1.29% from two or more races.
