Stevenson City is one of the city of Jackson County, Alabama, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 1770. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 2022, It is the 212th most populous in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is spread over 5.25 square miles (13.6 square kilometre), of which, 4.95 square miles (12.82 square kilometre ) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Alabama's 240th largest by total area.

For every 100 males there were 112.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 117.3 females. The median age was 40 years, The median age of males was 37.7 years, for females the median age was 42.6 years. The racial makeup of the city was 72.88% White, 22.37% Black or African American, 0.9% American Indian, 0.11% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 2.43% from two or more races and 1.3% Other races.
