Stevens County, Minnesota is a county located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 10053 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 9661 in July 2008, making it the 18th least populous county in Minnesota. The county spans an area of 575.24 sq mi (1489.86 kmē), of which, 562.06 square miles (1455.73 kmē) of it is land and 13.17 square miles (34.11 kmē) of it is water, it is the 28th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Minnesota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 10053 people in the county, organized into 3751 households, and 2367 families living in the county. The population density was 17.9 people per square mile (6.91/kmē), it is the 59th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. There were 4074 housing units at an average density of 7.2 per square mile (2.78/kmē). The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.99. In the county Age distribution was 21.6% under the age of 18, 20.8% from 18 to 24, 21.6% from 25 to 44, 19% from 45 to 64, and 17% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 106.5 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 109.9 females. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 9661, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 9155 White, 164 Black or African American, 95 American Indian, 135 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, and 110 from two or more races.
