The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 16921, making it the 148th most populous in Texas. The city comprises an area of 10.04 miē (26 kmē), of which, 10.03 square miles (25.98 kmē) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 kmē) of it is water, it is the 226th largest by area in the U.S. state of Texas.
