Stark County is one of the 102 county of Illinois, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. It is home to over 6332 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population was 6135, giving it the seventh smallest population among Illinois's county. Its area is just over 288.21 miē (746.46 kmē), of which, 287.94 square miles (745.76 kmē) of it is land and 0.28 square miles (0.73 kmē) of it is water, making it Illinois's 11th smallest county by total area.

The population density was 22 people per square mile (8.49/kmē), it is Illinois's ninth least densely populated county.
