Stanley City is a city in the Mountrail County, North Dakota, United States. It is home to over 1279 people (2000 census). The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 1218, It is 44th most populous in North Dakota. The city comprises an area of 1.74 square miles (4.51 kmē), of which, 1.73 square miles (4.48 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 45th largest by total area among North Dakota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1279 people, 576 households, and 333 families living in the city. The population density was 740.3 people per square mile (285.83/kmē), making its North Dakota's 125th most densely populated city. There were 664 housing units at an average density of 383.8 per square mile (148.19/kmē). The average household size was 2.12 people, and the average family size was 2.84 people.
