Stanislaus County is a United States county located in the United States of California. In 2000, county's population was 446997 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 510694, giving it the 16th largest population among California's county. The county has a total area of 1514.67 mi˛ (3922.98 sq km), of which, 1493.79 square miles (3868.9 sq km) of it is land and 20.88 square miles (54.08 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 30th largest by total area in California.

The population density was 299.2 people per square mile (115.52/km˛), it is the 15th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of California. There were 150807 housing units at an average density of 101 per square mile (39/km˛). The average household size was 3.03 persons, and the average family size was 3.47 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 31.1% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 29% from 25 to 44, 19.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.4 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 510694, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 86.76% White, 3.25% Black or African American, 1.56% American Indian, 5.04% Asian, 0.56% Native Hawaiian, and 2.84% from two or more races.
