Stafford County is a county located in the United States of Virginia. It is home to over 92446 people (2000 census). The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 121736, It is the 14th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Virginia. The county spans an area of 279.95 square miles (725.07 kmē), of which, 270.35 square miles (700.2 kmē) of it is land and 9.59 square miles (24.84 kmē) of it is water, making it the 80th largest by size in Virginia.

As of the census of 2000, there were 92446 people, 30187 households, and 24493 families living in the county. The population density was 341.9 people per square mile (132.01/kmē), making it the 47th most densely populated county in Virginia. There were 31405 housing units at an average density of 116.2 per square mile (44.87/kmē). The average household size was 3.01 persons, and the average family size was 3.32 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 31.6% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 33.7% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 5.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.5 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 121736, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 76.83% White, 17.25% Black or African American, 0.45% American Indian, 2.78% Asian, 0.1% Native Hawaiian, and 2.6% from two or more races.
