The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 245314, It is the fourth largest by population in the U.S. state of Florida. The city spans an area of 133.08 mi˛ (344.68 sq km), of which, 59.63 square miles (154.44 sq km) of it is land and 73.45 square miles (190.23 sq km) of it is water, makes it the third largest by total area in Florida. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Florida.
