St. Paul City is a city located in Ramsey County, Minnesota, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The population of city in 2000 stood at 287151 as per the Census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 279590, making it the second most populous in Minnesota. The city extends throughout a territory of 56.17 square miles (145.48 kmē ), of which, 52.77 square miles (136.67 kmē) of it is land and 3.41 square miles (8.83 kmē) of it is water, it is the sixth largest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 5441.7 people per square mile (2101.05/kmē), making its Minnesota's fifth most densely populated city.
