St. Louis City, Michigan


St. Louis City is one of the city of Gratiot County, Michigan, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The population of the city was 4494 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 6971, making it Michigan's 197th largest. The city spans an area of 3.02 square miles (7.82 kmē), of which, 2.87 square miles (7.43 kmē) of it is land and 0.16 square miles (0.41 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 241st largest by total area among Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4494 people, 1468 households, and 964 families residing in the city. The population density was 1568.4 people per square mile (605.56/kmē), it would be the 206th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Michigan. There were 1575 housing units at an average density of 548.8 per square mile (211.89/kmē). The average household size was 2.39 people, and the average family size was 2.92 people. In the city Age distribution was 20.6% under the age of 18, 12.1% from 18 to 24, 35% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 70.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 64.3 females. The median age was 34.6 years, the median age of male residents at 33.3 and the median age of female residents at 37.5. The racial makeup of the city was 3730 White, 453 Black or African American, 46 American Indian, 14 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 128 from two or more races and 123 Ohter races.
