According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the St. Landry Parish is home to 87700 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 92173, making it the 16th most populous parish in Louisiana. It has total area of 938.83 miē (2431.56 kmē), of which, 928.65 square miles (2405.19 kmē) of it is land and 10.18 square miles (26.37 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 17th largest by total area among Louisiana's parish.
