St. Joseph City is one of the city of Buchanan County, Missouri, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 73990 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 76197, It is the sixth most populous in the U.S. state of Missouri. The city comprises an area of 44.5 square miles (115.25 kmē), of which, 43.84 square miles (113.55 kmē) of it is land and 0.66 square miles (1.71 kmē) of it is water, giving it the ninth largest by total area among Missouri. It is ranks 20 in the size of its inland waterways in Missouri.

As of the census of 2000, there were 73990 people in the city, organized into 29026 households, and 18463 families living in the city. The population density was 1687.7 people per square mile (651.62/kmē), it is Missouri's 127th most densely populated city.
