St. Johns County is a county located in the United States of Florida. In 2000, the population was 123135. Its population was estimated at 181540 in July 2008, It is the 25th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Florida. The county spans an area of 821.43 mi˛ (2127.49 sq km), of which, 609.01 square miles (1577.33 sq km) of it is land and 212.42 square miles (550.17 sq km) of it is water, it is the 36th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 123135 people in the county, organized into 49614 households, and 34103 families residing in the county. The population density was 202.2 people per square mile (78.07/km˛), it is Florida's 27th most densely populated county. There were 58008 housing units at an average density of 95.2 per square mile (36.76/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.44 persons, and the average family size was 2.9 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 23.1% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 26.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.5 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 181540, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 90.14% White, 6.41% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 2.01% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 1.14% from two or more races.
