St. James Parish, Louisiana is a parish of the United States of Louisiana. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 21216 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 21231, It is the 21st smallest parish by population in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It covers total area of 257.79 square miles (667.67 kmē), of which, 246.13 square miles (637.47 kmē) of it is land and 11.66 square miles (30.2 kmē) of it is water, it is the second smallest in terms of geographical size.
