St. James City is a city located in the Phelps County, Missouri, United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the St. James City is home to 3704 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 4013, making it the 172nd most populous in Missouri. The city spans an area of 2.8 square miles (7.25 kmē), of which, 2.79 square miles (7.23 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, making it Missouri's 203rd largest by total area.
