St. George City, Utah is a city of the Washington County, Utah, United States. As of 2000 the population was 49663. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 72718, giving it the tenth largest population among Utah. The city extends throughout a territory of 64.87 square miles (168.01 square kilometre ), of which, 64.4 square miles (166.8 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.47 square miles (1.22 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Utah's second largest by total area. It is ranks 14 in the size of its inland waterways in Utah.

As of the census of 2000, there were 49663 residents, 17367 households, and 13041 families in the city. The population density was 771.2 people per square mile (297.76/kmē), it is 118th most densely populated city in Utah. There were 21083 housing units at an average density of 327.4 per square mile (126.41/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.81 persons, and the average family size was 3.21 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 28.4% under the age of 18, 13.7% from 18 to 24, 22% from 25 to 44, 16.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males. The median age was 31.4 years, the median age of male residents at 30 and the median age of female residents at 33.1. The racial makeup of the city was 45823 White, 120 Black or African American, 812 American Indian, 282 Asian, 293 Native Hawaiian, 907 from two or more races and 1426 Ohter races.
