St. Clair City is one of the city of St. Clair County, Michigan, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 5802 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 5763, It is the 171st most populous in the U.S. state of Michigan. The city spans an area of 3.42 mi˛ (8.86 sq km), of which, 2.77 square miles (7.17 sq km) of it is land and 0.65 square miles (1.68 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 219th largest by total area among Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5802 residents, 2322 households, and 1614 families in the city. The population density was 2093.7 people per square mile (808.38/km˛), making its Michigan's 137th most densely populated city.
