St. Bernard Parish is a one of the parish from Louisiana's 64 parishes, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. In 2000, parish's population was 67229 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 37722, It is the 30th most populous parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. Its area is just over 1793.75 mi˛ (4645.79 square kilometre), of which, 465.04 square miles (1204.45 square kilometre) of it is land and 1328.71 square miles (3441.34 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the fourth largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Louisiana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 67229 people, 25123 households, and 18301 families residing in the parish. The population density was 144.6 people per square mile (55.83/km˛), it is the 12th most densely populated parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. There were 26790 housing units at an average density of 57.6 per square mile (22.24/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.64 persons, and the average family size was 3.12 persons. In the parish the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.1 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 37722, The racial makeup of the parish was 31725 White, 4474 Black or African American, 241 American Indian, 661 Asian, 21 Native Hawaiian, and 600 from two or more races.
