It is 41st most populous in Maine. The census designated place has a total area of 3.27 square miles (8.47 square kilometre), of which, 3.15 square miles (8.16 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.12 square miles (0.31 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 30th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Maine.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3488 people in the census designated place, organized into 1437 households, and 914 families residing in the census designated place. The population density was 1107.6 people per square mile (427.65/kmē), giving it the 19th most densely populated census designated place among the Maine.
