Springfield City is a city located in Greene and Christian counties, Missouri, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. Springfield City had an official population of 151580 in 2000. The July 2008 population estimate is 156206, It is the third largest by population in the U.S. state of Missouri. The city spans an area of 73.79 mi˛ (191.12 square kilometre), of which, 73.16 square miles (189.48 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.64 square miles (1.66 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the fourth largest by area in the U.S. state of Missouri.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 151580 residents, 64691 households, and 35682 families in the city. The population density was 2072 people per square mile (800/km˛), it would be the 98th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Missouri.
