Springfield City is a city located in the Sangamon County, Illinois, United States. Springfield City had an official population of 111454 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 117352, It is the sixth largest by population in the U.S. state of Illinois. It has total area of 60.31 sq mi (156.2 square kilometre), of which, 54 square miles (139.86 square kilometre) of it is land and 6.31 square miles (16.34 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the second largest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Illinois.
