Southside City is one of the city of Calhoun and Etowah counties, Alabama, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 7036. In July 2008, its estimated population was 8407, giving it the 79th largest population among Alabama. The city comprises an area of 19.1 sq mi (49.47 sq km), of which, 18.9 square miles (48.95 sq km) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 sq km) of it is water, it is the 52nd largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7036 residents, 2653 households, and 2171 families in the city. The population density was 372.2 people per square mile (143.71/kmē), it is 191st most densely populated city in Alabama. There were 2783 housing units at an average density of 147.2 per square mile (56.83/kmē). The average household size was 2.62 people, and the average family size was 2.93 people.
