South Valley Cdp is one of the census designated place of Bernalillo County, New Mexico, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The census designated place has a population of 39060 as per the 2000 census data. It is sixth most populous in New Mexico. The census designated place extends throughout a territory of 30.23 mi˛ (78.3 sq km ), of which, 29.52 square miles (76.46 sq km) of it is land and 0.71 square miles (1.84 sq km) of it is water, making it New Mexico's eighth largest by total area. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in New Mexico.

As of the census of 2000, there were 39060 people, 457 households, and 284 families residing in the census designated place. The population density was 1323.3 people per square mile (510.93/km˛), it would be the 27th most densely populated census designated place in the U.S. state of New Mexico.
