South Sarasota Cdp had an official population of 5314 in 2000. It is the 410th largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 2.32 mi˛ (6.01 sq km), of which, 1.95 square miles (5.05 sq km) of it is land and 0.37 square miles (0.96 sq km) of it is water, it is the 568th largest by area in the U.S. state of Florida.
