South River Borough, Middlesex County, New Jersey is a borough located in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 15322 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 15682 in July 2008, It is 93rd most populous in New Jersey. It covers total area of 2.94 mi˛ (7.61 square kilometre), of which, 2.81 square miles (7.28 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.13 square miles (0.34 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 195th largest by total area among New Jersey.

The racial makeup of the borough was 83.55% White, 6.06% Black or African American, 0.12% American Indian, 3.54% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, 2.85% from two or more races and 3.83% Other races.
