South Portland City, Maine is a city of the Cumberland County, Maine, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 23324 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 23803, It is Maine's fourth largest by population . The city extends throughout a territory of 14.3 square miles (37.04 kmē ), of which, 11.99 square miles (31.05 kmē) of it is land and 2.31 square miles (5.98 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 21st largest by total area in Maine. It is ranks 13 in the size of its inland waterways in Maine.
