South Padre Island Town is a town located in Cameron County, Texas, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of town in 2000 stood at 2422 as per the Census data. Its population was estimated at 2837 in July 2008, making it the 562nd most populous in Texas. The town encompasses an area of 1.89 square miles (4.9 kmē ), of which, 1.81 square miles (4.69 kmē) of it is land and 0.08 square miles (0.21 kmē) of it is water, it is the 900th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2422 people in the town, organized into 1211 households, and 662 families living in the town.
