South Belmar Borough, New Jersey


South Belmar Borough is a borough located in Monmouth County, New Jersey, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, borough has a population of 1806 inhabitants. making it the 79th least populous in New Jersey. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.26 square miles (0.67 square kilometre), of which, 0.25 square miles (0.65 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the tenth smallest by total area in New Jersey.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1806 people, 457 households, and 284 families residing in the borough. The population density was 7322.9 people per square mile (2827.39/kmē), making its New Jersey's 54th most densely populated borough. There were 1107 housing units at an average density of 4428 per square mile (1709.66/kmē). The average household size was 2.19 and the average family size was 3.1. In the borough the population was spread out, with 21.8% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 36.7% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 13% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 97.8 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 103 females. The median age is 35.8 years, The median age of males was 34.5 years, for females the median age was 36.8 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 82.17% White, 7.75% Black or African American, 0.44% American Indian, 1.27% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, 2.44% from two or more races and 5.87% Other races.
