Smithville City, DeKalb County, Tennessee is a city located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. Smithville City had an official population of 3994 in 2000. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 4389, It is Tennessee's 114th largest by population . The city extends throughout a territory of 5.88 square miles (15.23 square kilometre ), it is the 151st largest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.
