It is the 110th largest by population in the U.S. state of Georgia. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the census designated place has a total area of 17.86 square miles (46.26 sq km), of which, 16.36 square miles (42.37 sq km) of it is land and 1.51 square miles (3.91 sq km) of it is water, making it Georgia's 34th largest by total area. It is ranks tenth in the size of its inland waterways in Georgia.
