Skamania County is one of the 39 county of Washington, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. Skamania County had an official population of 9872 in 2000. In July 2008, its estimated population was 10794, It is Washington's sixth least populous county. The county extends throughout a territory of 1683.86 sq mi (4361.18 square kilometre ), of which, 1656.44 square miles (4290.16 square kilometre) of it is land and 27.42 square miles (71.02 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 24th largest by total area in Washington.

The population density was 6 people per square mile (2.32/kmē), it would be the fifth least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Washington. There were 4576 housing units at an average density of 2.8 per square mile (1.08/kmē). The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.02. In the county Population was distributed with 26.6% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 27.1% from 45 to 64, and 11% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.4 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 10794, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 94.22% White, 0.31% Black or African American, 2.41% American Indian, 0.59% Asian, 0.16% Native Hawaiian, and 2.31% from two or more races.
