Skagway-hoonah-angoon Census Area is a United States census area located in the United States of Alaska. The population of census area in 2000 stood at 3436 as per the Census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 8889, It is most populous census area in Alaska. Its area is just over 11376.73 miē (29465.6 kmē), of which, 7896.48 square miles (20451.79 kmē) of it is land and 3480.25 square miles (9013.81 kmē) of it is water, it is the 18th largest by area in the U.S. state of Alaska.


As of the census of 2000, there were 3436 people, 1369 households, and 867 families living in the census area. The population density was 0.4 people per square mile (0.15/kmē), it is Alaska's 14th most densely populated census area. There were 2108 housing units at an average density of 0.3 per square mile (0.12/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.5 persons, and the average family size was 3.14 persons. The population's age distribution was 26.8% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 29.3% from 45 to 64, and 7.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 116.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 120.7 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 3436, The racial or ethnic makeup of the census area was 6012 White, 45 Black or African American, 1664 American Indian, 432 Asian, 87 Native Hawaiian, and 649 from two or more races.
