Simpson County, Mississippi is a county located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 27639. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 28034, It is the 34th most populous county in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The county has a total area of 590.53 square miles (1529.47 square kilometre), of which, 588.73 square miles (1524.8 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.8 square miles (4.66 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 36th largest by size in Mississippi.
