Simmesport Town is a town located in the Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 2239 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 2207, giving it the 174th largest population among Louisiana. It is spread over 2.35 square miles (6.09 sq km), of which, 2.16 square miles (5.59 sq km ) of it is land and 0.19 square miles (0.49 sq km) of it is water, it is the 233rd largest by area in the U.S. state of Louisiana.

The racial or ethnic makeup of the town was 52.08% White, 46.67% Black or African American, 0.22% American Indian, 0.22% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.63% from two or more races and 0.18% Other races.
