Shungnak City, Alaska is a city of the Northwest Arctic Borough, Alaska, United States. The population of city in 2000 stood at 256 as per the Census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 267, It is Alaska's 166th largest by population . The city spans an area of 9.62 square miles (24.92 sq km), of which, 8.36 square miles (21.65 sq km) of it is land and 1.26 square miles (3.26 sq km) of it is water, making it the 109th smallest by size in Alaska.

As of the census of 2000, there were 256 people in the city, organized into 56 households, and 51 families living in the city. The population density was 30.6 people per square mile (11.81/kmē), making its Alaska's 128th most densely populated city. There were 64 housing units at an average density of 7.7 per square mile (2.97/kmē). The average household size was 4.57 persons, and the average family size was 4.53 persons. Age range in the city was well distributed with 48.4% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 23.8% from 25 to 44, 12.9% from 45 to 64, and 6.3% who were 65 or older.
