Shreveport City is a United States city located in the Caddo Parish and Bossier Parish counties, Louisiana, United States. The population of city in 2000 stood at 200145 as per the Census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 199729, making it Louisiana's third largest. The city encompasses an area of 117.79 square miles (305.07 sq km ), of which, 103.14 square miles (267.13 sq km) of it is land and 14.65 square miles (37.94 sq km) of it is water, making it the second largest by size in Louisiana. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Louisiana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 200145 residents, 400 households, and 290 families in the city. The population density was 1940.5 people per square mile (749.23/kmē), it is Louisiana's 65th most densely populated city.
